WHY ARE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN, SO FAT?

WHY ARE BLACK WOMEN ESPECIALLY SO FAT?
Psst! Oprah Winfrey should not be your role model!

When it comes to weight, the perpetually portly Winfrey continues to increase her weight just as she continues to increase her ownership of Weight Watchers (WW) with the option of increasing her ownership stake by another 3.3 million shares, which would bring her stake up to 12.3%.

THE FACTS:

1.

82.1% of all adult Black women over 30 years of age are either morbidly overweight or obese.

QUESTION: Since the rate of obesity for Black women is so atrocious, and the future is equally bleak, why does it matter?

ANSWER / COMMENTARY:

First, ignoring the facts or “problem" does not make it go away; because the overwhelmingly majority of adult Black women keep getting fatter, more obese, not healthier - and this has a corresponding negative impact of children, families, and access to and the cost of health care. Obesity was NOT a major problem prior to the "baby boomer" generation, but obesity is a MAJOR problem now, and especially for the current and future generations of Black women because it’s getting worse.

Second, for the overwhelming majority of people obesity is preventable, and as such being overweight is not protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Unfortunately, instead of Black women addressing the issue of their unhealthiness and low self-esteem, the overwhelming majority of morbidly overweight and obese adult Black women have aligned themselves to a “cultural campaign” (much like the public relations for general acceptance of the LBGT movement), which has become the prevalent stereotype that they MUST be perceived as desirable and attractive, and that men, especially Black men, should and must lower their standards and accept them as they are (morbidly overweight or obese).

Let's be clear, as much as it's inappropriate to "body shame" and to overtly discriminate against people for being obese, it's equally inappropriate, insulting, and arrogant for any woman to expect any man to be blindly attracted to a woman who doesn't care enough about herself to stay fit, to have positive values, and a positive outlook on life! Likewise, for those millions and millions of morbidly owerweight and obese Black women who believe in God, if the human body is truly God's vessel on earth, then consider the blatant CONTEMPT and HYPOCRISY women (and men) truly have for God [1 Corinthians 6:19], by allowing God's vessel to become overweight, obese, riddled with disease from smoking cigarettes, etc.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Nevertheless, 82.1% of all Black women over thirty-(30) years of are are morbidly overweight or obese, and it remains a constant challenge for healthy heterosexual men to find a Black woman who is both intellectually attractive (smart, creative, active, etc.) and physically attractive (actively engaged in her own health and fitness).

Simply put, Gayle King"knows" she's a well-paid "public figure" and perceived as a "role model" to many people, especially Black women and girls.

So, showcasing her obesity, showcasing the cellulite on her thighs and arms, and the bulge about her waist is not an accident.

Third, if Black people truly resent the constant decline in the health of the Black race, then it’s incumbent upon “responsible Black men and women” to lead by example. IF BLACK PEOPLE CONTINUE TO ALLOW THE CONSTANT PROMOTION OF NEGATIVE IMAGES OF BLACK PEOPLE, then they have no one to blame but themselves for the decline of the Black race. It’s incumbent upon “responsible Black men and women” to identify the hypocrisy of so-called Black intellectuals, athletes, politicians, entertainers, etc. (the Oprah Winfrey paradox), who allow themselves to be used as the perpetual, the constant token negative example of Blackness:

1. as the overweight, big titty, loud-mouth “Aunt Jemima” Black woman
2. as the nappy-hair, wig-wearing, extension-wearing, hair-falling-out Black woman
3. as the lazy, unemployed Black man
4. as the overtly religious Black woman and/or Black man
5. as the unmarried Black woman with at least 3 or more children from two or more fathers
6. as the big dick, unemployed Black man living-off of an employed Black woman or employed White woman
7. as the uneducated, overweight, unhealthy, poorly-speaking Black man or Black woman

Don't forget, historically, during and after slavery, Black people have always had the worst health and fitness, because they ate the scraps of the White slave owner (pig feet, chitterlings, fish heads, chicken feet, etc.), consumed food cooked in grease, and by law, policy, or cultural convention were prohibited access to health care, and much of these conditions remain in effect today. Should Black people continue to accept the status quo, and linger in a constant state of mediocrity?

Study finds Blacks are the most obese group

Excluding Oprah Winfrey, there are many Black women in the public media who consistently maintain a healthy and fit physique. Plus, as they gotten older, the absence of wrinkles makes them look ever youthful. As the saying goes . . .

Given that 82.1% of adult Black women are morbidly overweight or obese, why would an eligible, attractive, educated, physically fit, and employed Black man find a Black woman desirable?? Why??? That’s right they don’t, because 82.1% of Black women (the overwhelming majority) have made themselves unattractive, undesirable. Likewise, the same can be said, but to a lesser degree of “eligible” Black men (if you can find one due to the extremely high rates of state-sanctioned unemployment, incarceration, suicide, homicide, etc.).

IN SUMMARY, WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE OR ETHNICITY, AN ENLIGHTENED, HEALTH CONSCIOUS MAN WILL LIKELY RESENT AND WILL NOT ACCEPT AS DESIRABLE THE IMAGES OF MORBIDLY OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE BLACK WOMEN. Accordingly, eligible Black men, the few that do exist, typically do not prioritize their search for a lover or wife to be a Black woman. For the past 20 years or more, no less than 25% of all Black marriages were to a partner of another race, and since Black men and women are not collectively making themselves more desirable to each other, there’s absolutely no reason for the increase of interracial marriages to diminish. Get it? Plus, the paucity of ad hoc health or fitness-based cluster groups, vegan or otherwise, do not align with traditional male-oriented activities, which can make it more difficult to find a suitable partner.

PROJECTION: As projected by Johns Hopkins and the CDC (#17 below), if the rate of obesity continues to increase, by 2048 100% of U.S. adults will be obese!

OBSERVATION: Since 82.1% of all adult Black women are already morbidly overweight or obese, clearly, Black women will continue to take a “leadership role” not only in the demise of Black health, but leading the nation into an overall malaise of incessant obesity.

FAT IS BEAUTIFUL? DON'T KID YOURSELF.

FAT IS BEAUTIFUL? REALLY?
IMAGINE HOW FAT SHE'LL BE WHEN SHE'S 50!!!

8.

Even looking back to 2005-06, the data was equally bleak with more than one-third of adults as obese, over 72 million people, which included 33.3% of all men and 35.3% of all women. SOURCE: Food Research and Action Center and CDC

The latest data indicate that 39.6 percent of U.S. adults are obese. (Another 31.6 percent are overweight and 7.7 percent are severely obese.) 39.6 + 31.6 + 7.7 = 78.9! In general, rates of obesity are higher for Black and Hispanic women, for Hispanic men, in the South and Midwest, in nonmetropolitan counties, and tend to increase with age.

9.

The "New Look of Fitness" is Denial and Deceit, which especially includes Black men, Native American, and Latino men!

It's perfectly okay to be obese! Accept me as I am, and pay for the perpetual increase in the cost of health care due to my obesity!

As of 2012, the rates of overweight or obesity are higher for Hispanic men (81.7 percent) compared to Black men (69.9 percent) and White men (74.0 percent), although obesity rates are fairly similar across racial-ethnic groups.

Cedric the Entertainer

IMAGES OF MORBIDLY OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE BLACK WOMEN ARE CONSTANTLY BEING PROMOTED AS ACCEPTABLE AND DESIRABLE.

Conversely, we don’t see nearly as many “promotional spots” celebrating the “beauty” of morbidly overweight and obese Black men . . . because it’s NOT beautiful, DAH!

OBSERVATION: If a man is unable to look down and see his penis, because his stomach is blocking his view, he's OBESE!

If a woman, who's not pregnant, looks down between your breasts and she's unable to see her pubic hair because her gut is blocking her view - she's OBESE.

Kanoa Greene is the cover story for Nebraska Wesleyan University's Archways magazine as an "example" that fitness has more than one look.

Throwing on a leotard and a pair of tennis shoes does not represent a "look" of fitness, or even an attempt to become fit, but only the well-established practice of the fashion industry to cash-in on the largest and fastest growing demographic in the U.S. - obesity! The overwhelming majority of morbidly overweight and obese people wear fitness clothing for the "fashionista appearance" and comfort of such, but they cannot be found actively engaged in fitness activities, such as:

Cycling events; 5k, 10k, half-marathons and marathons; biathlons; triathlons; bowling leagues; State Games of America; National Senior Games; and so much more. Plus . . .

Where’s data showing Greene’s personal achievement in physical agility, strength, flexibility, weight loss, etc.

Given the plethora of “plus size” and morbidly obese women posted on Greene’s Instagram.com site (https://www.instagram.com/kanoagreene/), where’s evidence of any success reducing overt obesity of her clientele?

Here are two common sense observations:

MEN - If you're a man, when you look directly down and you cannot see your penis because your gut is blocking your view - you're MORBIDLY OBESE. Likewise, if your gut is so big that you're even unable to reach, to touch your own penis, again, you're MORBIDLY OBESE.

WOMEN - If you're a woman, and you're not pregnant, when you look down between your breasts and you're unable to see your pubic hair because your gut is blocking your view as it hangs profusely over your "camel toed" vagina, then you're MORBIDLY OBESE.

The celebrted camel toe?

Yes, fitness does have more than one look, but “fitness” definitely does not look like Kanoa Greene.

Where’s actual evidence of Greene’s record of accomplishment in any fitness activity?

Instead of any validated achievement in health and fitness, Greene and many of her contempories play "dress up" in fitness garb to the "new look of fitness," which is denial and deceit.

Obese people have the single greatest cost impact on health care expenses in the United States.

Life expectancy is reduced by as much as 20+ years for obese men and by 5 to 15 years for obese women.

EVEN IN THE FACE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MORBIDLY OVERWEIGHT AND OBESE PEOPLE DO NOT ADHERE TO THEIR RELIGIOUS COMMITMENT TO GOD

I CORINTHIANS 6:19-20

OBESITY IS AN EPIDEMIC

Looking at the bigger picture, only Liberia (at 19.50%) and Sierra Leone (at 18.80%) spend more of their GDP (Gross Domestic Products) on health care than the United States (at 17.90%); however, the prevalence of obesity in female adults in Liberia is only 13%, and only 16% in Sierra Leone, but 48% in the United States, which was ranked 12th highest in the world for obesity in 2010 by World Health Organization

17.

AS YOU AGE, ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BECOME OBESE? NOPE.

QUESTON: Why do you never hear about an obese 350+ pound person living to a ripe old age of 100?

ANSWER: Due to the impact of obesity, people who are morbidly overweight or obese die prematurely as a direct result of other medical conditions or diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, etc.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

In the absence of significant change, the graphic above paints a dismal picture for the future state of obesity in the United States.

Meanwhile . . . for a person with a BMI of 25-28.9 kg/m2, the relative risk for coronary heart disease is 1.72. The risk progressively increases with an increasing BMI; with BMIs greater than 33 kg/m2, the relative risk is 3.44. Similar trends have been demonstrated in the relationship between obesity and stroke or chronic heart failure.

Overall, obesity is estimated to increase the cardiovascular mortality rate 4-fold and the cancer-related mortality rate 2-fold. As a group, people who are severely obese have a 6- to 12-fold increase in the all-cause mortality rate. Although the exact magnitude of the attributable excess in mortality associated with obesity (about 112,000-365,000 excess deaths annually) has been disputed, obesity is indisputably the greatest preventable health-related cause of mortality after cigarette smoking.

For persons with severe obesity (BMI ≥40), life expectancy is reduced by as much as 20 years in men and by about 5 years in women. The greater reduction in life expectancy for men is consistent with the higher prevalence of android (ie, predominantly abdominal) obesity and the biologically higher percent body fat in women. The risk of premature mortality is even greater in obese persons who smoke.

Some evidence suggests that, if unchecked, trends in obesity in the United States may be associated with overall reduced longevity of the population in the near future. Source: medscape.com

DO MOST BLACK PEOPLE CELEBRATE BEING FAT? YEP!
Looking at the bigger picture, only Liberia (at 19.50%) and Sierra Leone (at 18.80%) spend more of their

For the record, I have absolutely no desire for "people" to mirror my health and fitness level (http://www.reynos.com/Resume/Track/awards.htm), because competing in track is not for everyone, nor is rollerskating, or cycling, etc. I have always encouraged people (http://www.reynos.com/bio.htm#Wellness) to find an athletic activity that works best for them, something they enjoy. Also, I don't have a problem with people being a few pounds overweight, because being 10 or 20 pounds overweight is not necessarily a problem, especially if someone is participating in a regular fitness activity along with a fairly good diet. There was a time, decades ago, when the overwhelming majority of Black people were NOT fat, morbidly overweight, or obese. Instead, I've spent the majority of my adult life watching Black men and Black women get lazy and actually champion their obesity. Nowadays, FAT Black women are called "thick" and deemed desirable, attractive - as if high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease will somehow give greater "value" to their lousy health and stupidity.

For decades, throughout the U.S., I've been actively participating in all kinds of athletic events, but sadly, rarely do I find people who look like me. THAT'S SAD, PATHETIC. My younger brother doesn't run anymore because he had his left knee replaced a few year ago; nevertheless, last year he finished 3rd in the 50 meter dash for the 60-to-64 year old age group by literally "walking" to the finish line - because there was absolutely no competition - only three-(3) people, and he was the only Black person! Black people pride themselves on their athletic prowess in track, football, basketball, etc., but perpetually ignore any personal commitment to their own health and fitness. Yes, Latinos, Native Americans, many White people, and some Asians also have weight problems, but much less than the extremely high rates of obesity held by Black people. Unlike cancer, diabetes, scleroderma, etc., being morbidly overweight or obese is preventable, or at the very least extremely controllable.

Have you seen how fat Denzel Washington has become? And he's "the" role model, the "standard" for what it means to be an attractive Black man. Really?

Have you noticed the perpetual hypocrisy of Oprah Winfrey's pseudo-commitment to her own health and fitness. And she's the "inspiration" for young Black women. Really?

And Charles Barkley . . .

COMMON SENSE: Several years ago, a White guy in his early 20s asked me for a cigarette. I told him, "I don't smoke." He said, "Come on, man, what's up with that? What do you have against a little cigarette?" I responded, "Do you really want to know?" He said, "Yes." "Okay" I replied, "Are you married or in a relationship?" He said, "Yeah." "Okay," I said, "smoking restricts the flow of blood, and you need good blood flow for an erection; plus, I see you're overweight which probably means you also have high cholesterol, and high cholesterol and obesity also restricts the flow of blood, the flow of good blood required to get an erection, the flow of good blood required to have the aerobic "breathing" capacity, the energy to last more than a few minutes. As it says on the side of the cigarette packet, smoking also causes cancer, which is also true of obesity. You get it?" The White guy then said to me, "What are you, some doctor of something?" I responded, "No, I'm not a doctor; I just don't do shit that's not good for me. That's common sense."

Meanwhile . . . as represented by the flyer below, Black people continue with their stereotypical celebration of "food, art, music, and entertainment" as they become even more bloated and lethargic and well, . . . repulsive.

Meanwhile . . . "Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud" and "Black Lives Matter," really? Not if you're fat and Black!
