2017 Service Award Winner, Mike Williams - Mike Williams is from Potter, Nebraska. Mike was a three-sport athlete from Elmwood High School, where he excelled in track. As Mike says, “A few years and pounds ago” he ran track for Peru State College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Mike also has a Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and an Educational Specialist’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Mike has been in education for the past 29 years as a physical education and social studies teacher, activities director, principal and superintendent. He has coached cross country, football, volleyball, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, wrestling and track & field at either the junior high or high school grade levels. Mike was a high school football official for more than 20 years, while also officiating high school basketball for eight years. In May, he will be officiating at the Nebraska state track meet for the 23rd year. Mike also served 10 years in the Nebraska Air National Guard as a member of the 155th Weapons System Security Flight. Mike has been married to his wife Amy for 21 years and they have four children: Jacob, Connor, Reagan and Michael.He is an usher at his local church in Lincoln. |
