NEWS & EVENTS

March 18, 2020

Good afternoon Husker Officials, I pray that this email finds each of you doing well as we navigate a unique and uncertain time in history that is unfolding around us. I wanted to reach out to you today for three reasons;

First, I want to thank each one of you for another tremendous indoor season. I know I say this every year, but please know that it comes from the bottom of my heart, you guys are AMAZING. We are so fortunate that at Nebraska we have such an incredible indoor facility that allows us to stay home for the majority of our indoor season, allowing the student-athletes to miss less class during the indoor season. But that facility would be useless if we did not have YOU to help us run off some of the best meets in the country week in and week out. THANK YOU for all the time and effort you put in to doing your job with excellence and serving our athletes and staff. I am so grateful for each of you!

Second, as I am sure most of you know, the Big Ten has put a stop on all regular and post season competition for all spring sports as a response to help prevent the spread of the Cornoavirus. With that being said, we have to cancel our 2 outdoor home track and field meets. I am sure there are many of you, who like me, were looking forward to hosting the last 2 meets ever to be held at the current Ed Weir Stadium. Some of you have been working meets at Ed Weir much longer than my 15 years of working here at Nebraska and I know it will be hard to not get to see one last race, throw and jump in the facility. I know for me, hosting the 2016 Big Ten Outdoor Conference Championships where our men brought home the team title by the largest margin of victory ever in Big Ten history will forever be my favority memory from Ed Weir Stadium. I hope you have cherished memories from Ed Weir Stadium as well!

Third, in light of our new outdoor track being built and the timeline of that project I wanted to give you a heads up on what the 2021 season will look like in regards to hosting home meets. For the indoor season we are planning to host the same meets that we hosted this year: Intrasquad, Graduate Classic, Mark Colligan Memorial, adidas Classic, Frank Sevigne Husker Invite and the Nebraska Tune-Up. For the outdoor season, as of right now we are not planning to host any meets BUT if the track project stays on the projected schedule we may have the opportunity to host a meet similar to the Nebraska Invite (our last home meet that we usually host on graduation day). Of course I will keep you all posted on the details of the season as we get them ironed out over the next several months! I wish you all the best and will miss seeing you this spring, but I truly look forward to being together again in December for the Intrasquad meet!

Greetings to all!

First a note from of thanks from Ted: “I want to send a big thank you to all the officials who worked our Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational (January 24, 2020). Due to your efforts, all of the student-athletes and coaches involved in the meet had a fantastic experience. I have had the opportunity to have teams at meets all across the country and I can confidently say that the Husker Track & Field Officials are the best. Best wishes to you for the upcoming meets you work this season and I look forward to seeing you again soon.”

Sincerely,

Ted Bulling
