Dr. Wayne Reynolds - 2019 Service Award - Rev. Dr. Wayne M. Reynolds is a 1978 graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where he was a CCIW conference champion and NCAA All-American in track and field. Dr. Reynolds received the Master of Divinity degree from Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981, making the National Dean's List and Outstanding Young Men of America Awards. Reverend Reynolds later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Carolina University of Theology. Dr. Reynolds is a fifth generation United Methodist Minister and entered the ordained ministry in 1977 in Chicago, Illinois. On September 11, 2019 he celebrated his 42nd year of ministry. Dr. Wayne's track and field athletic career began in 1965 in Wichita, Kansas. Fifty-five years later, he continues to compete only in throwing events due to two knee replacement surgeries.

At the Nebraska Senior Games in Kearney, Dr. Reynolds has won several basketball Hot Shot and free throw competitions. He has competed in several Cornhusker Track Meets, National Senior Games and the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Pastor Reynolds has enjoyed coaching football, basketball and track at Boys Town, Omaha Central, Lincoln North Star, Omaha Midwest Striders and Bellevue Breeze track and field teams. He has been a Nebraska TeamMate mentor since 2001.

Dr. Reynolds has been a Nebraska Track and Field official since 2006 and an NSAA Track and Field official since 1990. Dr. Reynolds has officiated three national Junior Olympic track meets, as well as Big Ten and Big 12 Championships. Dr. Reynolds was an adjunct professor of Ethics and Philosophy at lowa Western Community College, taught at Boys Town High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Preparatory Academy. Dr. Reynolds served as a Police Chaplain for both the Omaha and Lincoln Police Departments from 1995 to 2012. Dr. Reynolds has served on more than 30 boards and committees across the United States and chaired several community and non-prophet organizations. He is a member of the NAACP, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Prince Hall Masons.

Currently, Dr. Reynolds is the Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Crete, Nebraska where the mayor appointed him to the Civil Service Commission and the Crete Housing Authority. Dr. Reynolds is also a member of the Saline County Drug & Alcohol Prevention Coalition for teenage underage drinking, and on the Board of directors for Epworth Village in York, Nebraska, working with foster parenting, serving hundreds of children and families across Nebraska. Dr. Reynolds’ brother Trip is also a Nebraska Track and Field official and is the Huskers’ web master and recipient of the 2019 Nebraska Sports Council Master's Track Achievement Award. Pastor Reynolds has three children: Wayne II, a three-time Nebraska state high school track and field champion and University of South Dakota graduate; Norma, a graduate of St. Olaf College and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law; and Normesha, a University of Nebraska-Omaha graduate. Dr. Reynolds has one granddaughter, Yeleyna Grace.
