Just How Obese will Whoopi Goldberg Become? Key word: Intervention!
Just because we get older, and just because our metabolism slows down, we don't necessarily become obese. On Wednesday, April 18, 2001 I wrote an editorial, "Aretha Franklin - Keyword: Intervention," about the need for someone with access to and influence with Aretha Franklin, to please, please help the Queen of Soul to lose the extremely massive amount of weight she'd gained throughout her career? Here, take a look at what happened to Aretha Franklin:
1961
2001
Fortunately, prior to her death on August 16, 2018
(at only aged 76 years of age, Aretha went from
2008
2015
Which brings us to Whoopi (Caryn Elaine Johnson) Goldberg, born November 13, 1955.
In summary . . .
1986
2021
And now, as with many obese women and men, Whoopi Goldberg no longer has a discernible neck, her breasts continue to increase and fall, and she wears XXX-Large T-shirts and other garments that cover her entire body like a bed sheet. As reported by the CDC and the U.S. Food and Research Center, 82.1% of all Black women over thirty-(30) years of are are morbidly overweight or obese, and equally important, 80% of people who become sick and/or die from COVID-19 are obese; which means, sadly, Whoopi Goldberg, like Oprah Winfrey, are terrible role models to inspire girls and young women to be healthy and fit.
Key word:
Intervention!

What'll happen if Goldberg does nothing?
In the absence of a rather unique medical condition that literally causes obesity, again, just because we get older (Whoopi, Oprah, Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, Octavia Spencer, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, etc.), and just because our metabolism slows down, we don't necessarily become morbidly overweight or obese. As much as it's inappropriate to "body shame" and to overtly discriminate against people for being obese, it's equally inappropriate, insulting, and arrogant for any person to expect anyone to be blindly attracted to someone who doesn't care enough about their own body to stay fit, to have positive values, and a positive outlook on life! Likewise, for those millions and millions of morbidly owerweight and obese Black women and men who believe in God, if the human body is truly God's vessel on earth, then consider the blatant CONTEMPT and HYPOCRISY women and men truly have for God [1 Corinthians 6:19], by allowing God's vessel to become overweight, obese, riddled with disease from smoking cigarettes, etc.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Keep in mind, nearly four-(4) of five-(45) adults in the U.S. are morbidly overweight or obese, and for people of color, especially Black people like Whoopi Goldberg, it’s only getting worse. So, would someone with access to and influence with Whoopi Goldberg, please, please help Ms. Goldberg to lose the extremely massive amount of weight she's gained throughout her career? Or, we can all just sit back and wait for the inevitable conclusion. Conclusion?
With regard to Whoopi Goldberg's health, and in the absence of intervention, the next 10 years should be . . . interesting!
Aretha died at 76.
Whoopi "back in the day."

Should we "congratulate" Goldberg for her weight loss? Not really. The fact of Goldberg's weight loss only valiates she could have "changed" her physical and mental outlook to achieve her weight loss decades before.
Again, in the absence of a rather unique medical condition that literally causes obesity, again, just because we get older (Whoopi, Oprah, Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, Octavia Spencer, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, etc.), and just because our metabolism slows down, we don't necessarily become morbidly overweight or obese. As much as it's inappropriate to "body shame" and to overtly discriminate against people for being obese, it's equally inappropriate, insulting, and arrogant for any person to expect anyone to blindly accept, tolerate, or forgive someone who doesn't care enough about their own body to stay fit, to have positive values, and a positive outlook on life! As consistently validated by both the CDC and private sector research, "thick," fat, "phat," morbidly overweight, BBW, and obese Black women exist only as a "preview" to diabetes, breast cancer, heart disease and perpetually increasing cost of health care.
Goldberg and the 75% of U.S. citizens who are morbidly overweight and obese sustain the perpetual increase in the cost of health care. Re-read the previous sentence.
Let's hope Goldberg is able to sustain her weight loss.
