THE "REAL THREAT TO DEMOCRACY" HAS ALWAYS
BEEN "ELITE," POLITICALLY POWERFUL AND
AFFLUENT WHITE PEOPLE; JUST ASK NATIVE TRIBES
On December 20, 2007 Lakota Sioux Indian representatives declared sovereign nation status in Washington D.C. in after withdrawing from all previously signed treaties with the United States Government. The withdrawal, hand delivered to Daniel Turner, Deputy Director of Public Liaison at the State Department, immediately and irrevocably ended all agreements between the Lakota Sioux Nation of Indians and the United States Government outlined in the 1851 and 1868 Treaties at Fort Laramie Wyoming. Why did they do this; here's why . . .
Numerous treaties exist between the US and Sioux Nation, all of which have been violated by the US
Keep in mind, "elite," well-educated, slave-owning, God-fearing "Founding Father" White men had no problem executing contracts or agreements between themselves, or Native Americans, and with England, France, Spain, etc.
Or, are "we" supposed to believe these "elite," well-educated, slave-owning, God-fearing "Founding Father" White men, who used the same colonization tactics as their British peers, were not as smart as Chinese men who established, with Britain, a 99-year (timetable) lease for Hong Kong in 1898?
Where was (where is) the 99-year (timetable) lease to return to the Republic of Lakotah to Native Americans? Where?
"It's their land. Give it back!"
The Republic of Lakotah
The Black Hills are sacred to the Sioux as a place central to their spirituality and identity, and contest of ownership of the land has been pressured in the courts by the Sioux Nation since they were allowed legal avenue in 1920. Beginning in 1923, the Sioux made a legal claim that their relinquishment from the Black Hills was illegal under the Fifth Amendment, and no amount of money can make up for the loss of their sacred land. This claim went all the way up to the Supreme Court United States v. Sioux Nation of Indians case in 1979 after being revived by Congress, and the Sioux were awarded over $100 million as they ruled that the seizure of the Black Hills was in fact illegal. The Sioux have continually rejected the money, and since then the award has been accruing interest in trust accounts and amounts to about $1 billion in 2015. Source: Wikipedia
According to Wikipedia.com, four-(4) activists, calling themselves the Lakota Freedom Delegation, traveled to Washington, D.C. and contacted the State Department, on December 17, 2007. Their leader was Russell Means, who had been a prominent member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) since the late 1960s. Means identified himself as 'chief facilitator' of the provisional government of the Republic of Lakotah. Other members of the delegation included: Tegheya Kte, (also known as Garry Rowland), 'facilitator'; Duane "Canupa Gluha Mani" Martin, 'provisional government member'; and Phyllis Young, 'provisional government member'. The delegation members identified themselves by the title of "Itacan of Lakota" in a contemporaneous press release.
On January 8, 2008, tribal leaders in the northern Great Plains, Rodney Bordeaux of the 25,000-member Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and Joseph Brings Plenty of the 8,500-member Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, said that Means and the group of his fellow activists would not speak for their members or for any elected Lakota tribal government. While acknowledging that Means has accurately portrayed the federal government's broken promises to and treaties with America's indigenous peoples, they opposed his plan to renounce treaties with the United States and proclaim independence. They said the issue instead was to enforce existing treaties. Clearly, leadership of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe blatantly ignored or failed to learn from the well-documented fact that "elite," politically powerful and affluent White people have consistently violated their own laws with EVERY minority throughout the history of the United States of America. Are Native Tribes also lead by "Uncle Tom's," and are Native Tribes as stupid as Black people? Yes.
Russell Means
Born:
November 10, 1939
Porcupine, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, U.S.
Died:
October 22, 2012
(aged 72)
Rapid City, South Dakota, U.S.
As General Manager of cable broadcast company Community Telecast, Inc. (CTI22) we broadcast more Native Tribe content (daily programs, weekly programs, specials, "live" programs, and hundreds and hundreds of Pow Wows) than all stations in Nebraskas combined, and did so for nearly twenty-(20) years.
In an effort to do even more, CTI22 wanted to inform our diverse broadcast audience about the Republic of Lakotah.
I spoke personaly with Russell Means, and requested his permission to broadcast his own videos, and to produce orginal content. Mr. Means approved my request.
Presented below is one of several videos I produced and broadcast to inform our diverse broadcast audience about the Republic of Lakotah.
Then, in October 2012 Russell Means died. However, the Lakotah's fight for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" remained unanswered. As President Obama expressed his "international concerns" about the Palestinian versus Israeli conflict, and possibly sending U.S. military into Syria, I wrote President Obama (below) to focus on cleaning up "domestic concerns" of Native Tribes in America that predate his "international concerns."
President Obama did not respond to my letter.
Unfortunately, when Russell Means died, the driving force to create the Republic of Lakotah also died. The creation of the Republic of Lakotah only exists as a memory, as anarchival website.
Meanwhile, the death toll from COVID-19 was greatest on minorities who consistently have the absolute worst access to health care, especially Black people who initially had the most deaths per 100,000 - until thorougly passed by Indigenous tribal deaths.
Meanwhile, the overall social and economic status (i.e., equal access to education, employment, housing, health care, and the political process) for the overwhelming majority of Indigenous People, and other peole of color, did not change, without regard to Republican (or conservative) or Democratic (or liberal) White-owned and controlled political administrations during the 1770s, 1780s, 1790s, 1800s, 1810s, 1820s, 1830s, 1840s, 1850s, 1860s, 1870s, 1880s, 1890s, 1900s, 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and the 2020s.

Given the aforementioned "status quo," why do independent tribal governments continue to embrace the pseudo-democracy specifically created to primarily benefit "elite," politically powerful and affluent White men?
In 1886, prior to becoming the 26th President of the United States of America in 1901,
Theodore Roosevelt said:
“I don’t go so far as to think that the only good Indians are the dead Indians, but I believe nine out of every 10 are, and I shouldn’t like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth.” Theodore Roosevelt
A momument to this racist, Mount Rushmore,
is carved into the sacred land of the Lakotah.
Then, after the intentional genocide of millions of Native Americans, "elite," politically powerful and affluent White men intentionally incarcerated Native Americans on "reservations."
3. Then, concurrent with the incarceration of Native Americans, "elite," politically powerful and affluent White men intentionally stole (cultural appropriation) Native "culture."
Native Americans have also been subjected to the blatantly distorted narrative of White-man as savior, "White Savior" and White-man's version of history, "White Washing" in stories and roles in Hollywood films, with their historic leaders and warriors portrayed by whites. Source: Wikipedia

The "real" Geronimo was not White, he did not have blue-eyes, he was not 6'5" tall.
In the 1962 film, "Geronimo," was portrayed by a White, blue-eyed, 6'5" tall, actor, Chuck Connors
On 8 September 2000, the head of the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) formally apologized for the agency's participation in the
"ethnic cleansing" of Western tribes. Now, 523 later, Native
population in the U.S. as of 2010 is only 2.9 million. Source: Wikipedia
The Black Hills was originally included in the Great Sioux Reservation, and the Lakota Sioux consider their land sacred ground. The Lakotah Sioux voiced strong opposition to defiling their sacred land with images of four White men who championed their genocide and perpetual oppression. The mountain into which Mount Rushmore was carved is known to the Lakota Sioux as Six Grandfathers.
Nevertheless, the United States broke up the territory after gold was discovered in the Black Hills and subsequently built Mount Rushmore.
QUESTION:If the Republic of Lakota reacquired control of their sacred land, do you really think they would sustain Mount Rushmore or blow it up into a zillion pieces?

Separate, but equal. Sound familiar?
4. Of course, concurrent with capitalism and the spirit of "divide and conquer" that pitted Native tribes against each other, some tribes have prospered while most have not.
Just My Soul Responding
[Intro]
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
[Verse 1]
A few years ago on my birthday
I had just become twenty one (I remember)
I had a lot to live, said I had a lot to give
Till a man comes to give me a gun
And though that war he sent me to
Didn't claim me
If I'm bitter don't blame me
It's just my soul responding
Don't you try to tell me I'm un-patriotic
I deserve an explanation
I can't help but wonder if you really got it
[Chorus]
It's just my soul responding
Soul responding, soul responding
[Verse 2]
This land once belonged to my father
And to his father before him too
Let me tell you now,
I'm on a reservation
Living in a state of degradation
What's a soul suppose to do?
'Cause I'm out, pushin', right?
I'm not in doubt
When it's just my soul responding
To seeing little hungry children
In the land of plenty
Just my soul responding
To doing lots of deeds
But never having any
[Chorus]
It's just my soul responding
Soul responding, soul responding
[Verse 3]
I was born and raised in the ghetto
On the run down side of the track
And there are forces who do everything they can do
To hold me back because my skin is Black
Oh but more and more I mind
Hell, it's about time
It's just my soul responding
To being second-class in a land I helped to form
Just my soul responding
To too many roaches and not enough heat
To keep my babies warm
In this land I helped to form
I've got too many roaches and not enough heat
To keep my babies warm
[Chorus]
It's just my soul responding
Soul responding, soul responding

Did the Lakotah give up, just like Black people? Kinda.
Although the Sioux have continually rejected over $1 billion for their sacred Black Hills, missing is the sovereign political and economic independence that will truly sustain the "diversity and uniqueness" of Lakotah language and culture.
Nevertheless, the land belongs to the Republic of Lakotah. Give it back!
